Virender Sehwag Biography Wiki
Sehwag was born into the Jat family of a grain merchant. He spent his childhood in a common family with siblings, uncles, aunts and sixteen cousins.
Although he has now settled in New Delhi, the Sehwag family is from Haryana.
Sehwag was the third of four children of father Krishan and mother Krishna Sehwag, with the two older sisters Manju and Anju and the younger brother Vinod.
His father attributes his interest in cricket to a toy bat that he received as a gift when he was seven months old.
He attended Arora Vidya School in Delhi and urged his parents to let him play cricket as he was not academically gifted.
Early in his career, he had a reputation as an offensive hitter and his coach was Amar Nath Sharma.
His father decided to end his career when he cracked a tooth as a child in 1990, but Sehwag evaded the ban with the help of his mother. Later, he visited Jamia Milia Islamia for his graduation.
Playing Style of Sehwag
Sehwag was often compared to Sachin Tendulkar in his early days, as he was similar in striking style, physique, and appearance.
He has repeatedly confirmed that in his youth he consciously tried to orient his playing style towards the Tendulkars.
Sehwag’s technique is often quoted as being particularly unorthodox, as he often retreats (considered technically incorrect) to free his arms during the shot, especially to cut spinners or drive them from the inside out.
He is often quoted by commentators for his extremely strong (physically) square cut and his top cut and power through the offside.
In particular, his tendency to hit the ball in the air and risk dismissal is a trait that has made him famous for his risk-taking and adventurous attitude.
He is also known for a relative lack of footwork, although his timing is often attributed to his eyesight.
Recently, Sehwag has shown a tendency to discharge himself through upswings, which is due to his lead-foot striking style.
He has also been fired when the ball was too close to his body to cut it, especially in limited over-matches.
